Our History

Hegg's Furniture has been family-owned for three generations. Charles Hegg established the store in 1946 and sold it to his son William Hegg in 1970. William made the transition from a department store atmosphere to primarily furniture in 1977. The current owners, William's son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Stacie Hegg, purchased the store in January of 1998. Since purchasing the family business, Stacie, along with her sales team, has improved the store's products and merchandising techniques, from primarily promotional furniture, to middle and higher end furniture and interior design services.

In September of 2001 Hegg's Furniture relocated from their previous location on State Street to our current location overlooking beautiful Hart Lake. Scott and Stacie purchased and completely restored two historical buildings, which have a longstanding place in the hearts of the local people, many of whom worked or had relatives who worked at the original Ford Garage. The arched brick doorways, exposed twelve-foot ceilings, brick walls and automotive accents are a draw for many. In attaching the two buildings, the owners have designed a quaint, two story atrium with sky lights and an espresso bar for their customers to enjoy. The old Ford Garage will be a work in progress and always changing; thus customers will love to walk in and see what is new and exciting. The owners and staff pride themselves in offering unique products which just cannot be found anywhere else.

In a logging town along the Muskegon River, it only seemed appropriate that men should erect a building where they could come together to boast of their wealth and accomplishments. And as they sat in their leather chairs, puffing on their $5.00 cigars, they were surrounded by a building made of brick and mortar and fine wood with carved crown moldings, and marble fireplaces. That building was proudly appointed the name, The Century Club.

Today, it still follows tradition, as brick and mortar, fine wood, crown moldings, and marble fireplaces fashion the back drop for a display of beautiful furniture.

Hegg's Gallery of Fine Furniture gave new life to this old building, built in 1889, by opening Hegg's Gallery A New Century of Fine Home Furnishings, in August of 2007. The eclectic performance of unique pieces is accompanied by experienced designers, who find it a privilege to help with furniture selections.
